Are You Ready for Christmas?

Every year, I make all these grandiose plans for Christmas and every year, I end up scrambling to find gifts and get some sort of food together for the holiday. Forget about cookies and Yule logs, I´m hard pressed to finish crocheting a hat for the baby!

I think I just need to be more organized. This year, I decided to start in January, because I wanted to make a quilted tree skirt and cross-stitch stockings for both boys. But the kits I like don´t ship here and I can´t get the right colors if I just download the patterns. So, I started making little cross-stitch ornaments.

Everything was stored in my craft bag, a woven plastic tote with my yarn and Aida cloth and thread. I had it under my desk. Then Irving cleaned and put it outside in the kitchen, which had a roof, but no walls. Then the builders tossed it outside when they were moving things and since it is the rainy season, everything got soaked and moldy. :(

You may be asking why I didn´t rescue my craft things during this time period. I have to admit, I forgot. I had this great month-by-month plan done up to get stuff made . . . and I let it fall by the wayside and got busy with other stuff and didn´t even notice my bag was missing until I found it outside. So, all the work I did way back in January was for naught.

Anyway, looks like I´m not the only one with the poorly organized holiday problem. There is a very cool website called Organized Christmas where you can print out lists and there is a whole special Christmas prep list that starts 6 weeks before the actual holiday, to get you nice and organized. I´m totally doing it this year!
