Backyardigans, Anyone?

Dorian is a big fan of Backyardigans. He will watch that show as much as I´ll let him, and he has actually mastered the word “backyardigans”, which is just proof that little kids are holding out on us! What´s with all the “wawa” for water and “uh uh” for everything else? If he can say “backyardigans” clearly, then I think he ought to be able to say “water”!
Anyway, it´s a cute show. For those of you who haven´t been lucky enough to see it yet, the show consists of a bunch of 3D animated . . . creatures. One is a penguin, I´m not really sure about the rest! These critters meet up in backyards and have imaginary adventures, which are very real to them. Much of the time, this involves wearing a simple costume of some sort and it ALWAYS involves singing and dancing . . . . although apparently fat 3D characters have difficulties moving well, but anyway.
Dorian likes to sing with the songs and he learned how to spin from this show (I kid you not), so now he just twirls ever so ungracefully every time he hears the theme song. It´s cute. But his obsession doesn´t stop there. Now he´s got his parents spinning and singing, too. I think it´s good for my Spanish.
And here is further proof of his fanatism:

That´s a cardboard imitation of the masks that the Backyardigans frequently wear.

This one is of Dorian singing the Backyardigan´s song. As you can clearly see, he just returned from the store where his Papa gave him a purple popsicle. I think there´s some tomato sauce in there, too. And maybe something else that Irving gave him before he brought him back to the house. I guess I should start changing the kid before I take pictures to post publicly!

WOW, isn’t he cute in his ‘mask’, and yes, as he has mastered ‘Backyardigan’, then he should be able to say WATER!!!
Would love to see you twirling around as well…. hint hint!
What a cutie pie! My nephew is obsessed with The Backyardigans!
Jane, Pinks & Blues Girls
Bernie, you won´t see me twirling for a loooooong time!
Dream on. Maybe when I lose all this baby fat.
Jane, it´s funny the things they obsess about, isn´t it? That mask is super simple, cut out the cardboard, tie two bits of yarn to it and then tie the other ends of the yarn to a piece of elastic. (The mask is ripped already, of course, but I saved the yarn and elastic to just add to any other mask we might come up with)
