Can`t Beat the Logic

This morning, I noticed that Dorian was awfully quiet . . . so I peeked into the bedroom and he quickly tossed something back into Irving`s box and stared at me with false innocence.
“What are you doing? Were you eating something?”
“Leave me alone!” He shouted. Ok. I walked over and noticed that the thing he`d tossed was a hard candy, still in the wrapper. Since it was back in the box, I just said, “Oh, it was a candy.” He whined at me and I told him I just wanted to be sure he didn`t eat anything he shouldn´t and left the room.
Well, a couple minutes later, he comes strolling out with the unwrapped candy, sucking on it and says to me, “Hey, Mama. I`m eating a candy.”
“Did you ask if you could have it?”
“What?”
“You shouldn`t eat candy without asking.” I told him. He looked very puzzled.
“But, I SAID, `leave me alone´”. He replied. Obviously, in his toddler mind, the fact that I didn`t specifically tell him NOT to eat the candy was giving him permission. Whoops.
