Ebola AGAIN? Or Maybe Swine Flu . . .

I rarely leave the house, so I am at a loss as to WHY I keep coming down with stuff. But, this time, it’s a doozy. It started with one swollen tonsil about a week ago, which made it hard to breath through one nostril, but whatever, who needs to breathe anyway, right?
Then suddenly, two nights ago, I went from having a slightly blocked throat to running a fever, alternating shivering and sweating and with pain in every joint. It sucked. I went to bed in hopes it would pack up and go away.
Yesterday morning, I woke up in worse condition, but since I had several deadlines looming, I tried to work. Irving had band practice, so he headed off at 2 and things went downhill from there. Trying to chase two active children when you can barely move yourself isn’t fun. And it also makes it very hard to work. So at 5, I put them to bed and went to bed myself, feeling like a lousy mom, but sick of the non-stop fighting and unable to deal with them anymore. Irving got home an hour later. I should mention that the boys didn’t actually go to bed. I woke up to some very loud thunder at one point and sat up to see if the kids were going to freak out about it and caught a glimpse of a little green eye and curls disappearing around the door. They were actually just jumping on the bed in their room and sneaking peaks at me. I heard a whispered, “Mama’s dormiendo!” at one point.
Irving freed my poor, neglected children when he returned and they didn’t go to bed until nearly 8. Meanwhile, he put Tarzan on for them at top volume, so I didn’t get any more sleep either. I will also say that he didn’t believe I was actually sick. He thinks I’m a wuss, which I am, but that doesn’t mean I wasn’t ill.
Anyway. No one else is sick. Part of the reason Irving is convinced it is all in my head . . . since no one else got anything, HOW did I get it if I just hole up in my office all the time? Sigh. I tried to convince him that he gave it to me, but has a stronger immune system, but it didn’t fly. Who knows. And with that little update, I’m returning to my deadlines.

Talk to Me, People!

ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, i’m so sorry you’re sick. that’s when you need a live in:)
Hope you feel better soon!
what’s the word on the new victim with the so called “swine flu” epidemic also know as “government’s big joke”
Aloha Genesis,
hope you’re feeling better today. I had it recently too, caught it from my niece (who recovered after 2 days of running nose). Auntie Petra was in bed for a week straight. I wasn’t even strong enough to open up a bottle of OJ… Bugger… Glad my parents came by every day.
So: get well soon and don’t let anybody tell you how sick (or not) you are. Even wussies have the right to get sick.
A big virtual (non-infectuous) Hug!
There are 20 new victims according to the newspapers. I don´t know how serious any of them are though. I suspect Mark would have more info since he stays on top of these things.
Thanks, Petra! It turned out to be a case of tonsilitis gone bad, so the infection had spread pretty badly. I´m on antibiotics now and it is slowly going down . . . hopefully I´ll feel like new in a couple of days. Sorry to hear you were so sick, you should really talk to that niece of yours!
Tonsilitis…ouch. Hope you are feeling better sweet friend.
Praying.

Hey, even super mommies are allowed to be sick! Welcome to the club, dear. I’ve been down this weekend too and also with tonsillitis but I get it so much that I don’t even care anymore. Don’t let fever stops you having fun. :p
I’ve got a ton of Vitamin C and B-12 if you want some. Call me quick and I won’t drink the last of the bourbon…
Hope you are feeling better now!!!
Am feeling the same here in Texas and hope I’m better by the time I get to Antigua. I’m coming with my 8 & 10 year old and plan to stay 5 weeks. Any update on swine flu there? Should I bring tamiflu with me or can I get it from a clinic should the need arise? Off to blow my nose!
Jane, Tamiflu is available in the pharmacies here and you can just walk in and buy it. Hope you feel better soon!
Thanks Mark. I have vitamins here, I just have to remember to take them!
I used to get it a lot, too, but this time it went haywire! I think the infection just spread throughout my body . . . fever, chills, joint pain, the works.
