Excuse Me While I Freak Out a Little

Posted on January 29, 2010 - Filed Under Homeschool, Personal, Simple Life | 17 Comments

I have like 5 posts half written, waiting for links and a little thought to be applied. I have over 1,000 photos sitting on my hard drive, waiting to be edited and shared with you. Well, maybe not all one thousand, because I’m pretty sure that would bore people to death, but a selection of the best of the best.

Anyway, my point? I’m a little bit nuts right now and so there might not be a really coherent post on here until, say, the first week of February.

The reason? Oh, you want a REASON! I actually have a good one. Or ten.

We started homeschooling, so that’s a regular thing in the morning (and also the topic of one of my half written posts), which is awesome and it’s going great, but it also takes a chunk of time out of my day.

I currently have about 3 ebooks sitting in my inbox, waiting to be reviewed for my At Home Mom blog, I’m still attempting to post one recipe a day over at Gourmet Mama . . . speaking of which, check out this very cool, very colorful stack of eggplant!

Eggplant stack

Ok, back on topic, Irving is no longer with Banda Vega as of this week, for reasons too long and detailed to go into at this particular moment (probably too boring, too!). So that means a certain work at home mom is currently responsible for all income in this household and even though I really wanted him to not be gone every day from noon til 3 am, it’s kinda freaking me out to take on this extra responsibility and it also means I have to REALLY buckle down and work and not get distracted by things like cool links and blog posts and such. At least until the end of the month when they pay me and I can relax again. :)

Oh, and also, he’s not just becoming a kept man, in case you were wondering . . . he is building up a computer repair business and we may possibly, hopefully, probably have a libreria (paper shop?)/internet cafe/snack place/rented rooms for students in the very near future.

So, yeah, that’s the reason I might be kind of missing in action for a bit around here. Just so you know. But please, feel free to leave comments, since I really love to read those and ALWAYS have time to check them out. :)

My goodness, woman, your energy leaves me flabbergasted! :o ) You will be okay, just take it one day at a time, keep on trucking and don’t sweat the small stuff. Everything you are undertaking sounds like an adventure! And that is what life is all about. Good luck.

I might need a few rooms the week after Easter, would you have rooms that soon, where are they?

  3. gblued on January 29th, 2010 2:01 pm

Norm, we should have rooms by then, though if not, I know someone else in town who rents. They’re in San Juan del Obispo, about a 20 min. bus ride or 5 min. car ride up Volcan Agua.

Thanks for the encouragement, Trudy! I’m sure I’ll be fine, it’s just stressful right this moment. :)

I have a rental in the south central part of town, it is only two bedrooms and I have guests coming the week after Easter so I will need to rent some extra rooms for a few days to put everyone up. I would need rooms in town for that period. A night out on Volcan Agua might be fun, the whole idea of the trip is to see if I like the country. I’m down for the months of March and April, ruins, the beach, the highlands and a lot of reading are on the agenda.

Hi – just wanted to say hi and say that I love your blog. I too am a work at home mum here in Perth Australia, and I have 3 active boys (14yrs, 12yrs and 18mths)and a wonderful husband who runs his own business. I love popping by your blog and reading what you’ve been up to, and to know that I’m not the only one pushed for time, and trying to balance time with my kids and earning an income. I’ve been thinking of starting my own blog, but have been worried that I will let it slip due to time pressures. Any advice on that, since you seem to be a master of multi tasking? I wish you luck with all you need to accomplish!

Wow! You are awesome for homeschooling your kids! I barely have enough patience to help them out with homework! Great idea about the librería/cafe internet/repair shop, etc.
The eggplant looks delicious, but I´m not that into eggplant. Maybe if I substituted eggplant for jocote marañon? (wierd, but that´s what the picture made me think of.)
Congratulations and if you can bottle up some of your energy, here´s your first customer!

Leiani, actually, this blog is my time out. :D When I need a little me time, I often write here, so it’s not an inconvenience at all! I do have little more difficulty with keeping up on Gourmet Mama and At Home Mom because they are more business oriented, but still, it’s something I enjoy. That really helps!

I would suggest not pressuring yourself if you start a blog. Do one or two posts a week. There’s nothing saying you have to write a novel, either . . . even a couple of paragraphs is fine! Start slow and work up if you want.

Irving hates eggplant, too, but this sandwich was good enough that he actually asked for seconds. Here’s the recipe: http://thegourmetmama.com/eggplant-tomato-sandwiches/

If I had any energy to bottle, I would gladly sell it. As it is, I’m trying to figure out how to suction off some of Dante’s non-stop whirling dervish energy for my own use. :D

And as you KNOW I am a praying kind of girl…I am going to cover you my sweet friend.

May God help you make it all happen.

Genesis, you busy bee! I have no doubt that you guys will get by fine and cross my fingers for Irving’s new project. Will be interesting to learn more about your homeschooling. It’s forbidden here, in fact, this week the first german family got granted asylum in the states because they weren’t allowed to school their kids themselves.

    Sending a hug! xx

Thank you, Kimmie, we could definitely use some prayer right now. :)

  13. gblued on January 30th, 2010 7:28 am

Petra, I’ll definitely be talking a lot about homeschooling in the future since we are now fully immersed in that. I’ve read that Germany is particularly difficult for those wanting to teach their kids at home. Scary stuff! Though it was actually illegal in Canada when my parents started teaching me! Luckily they legalized it a few years later.

WOW! At least you won’t be bored any time soon :) My husband is currently unemployed (thanks economy), so I know what you mean about the pressure of bringing home the bacon. In my case it’s no where near as bad since we don’t have kids yet, but it’s still a little scary. From reading your blog, you seem like the kind of person that can take this all in stride and will come out victorious :)

  15. gblued on January 30th, 2010 4:08 pm

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Alexandra. :) We’ll be fine. I do earn enough, but things took a dip because I left off my work in December and part of November, since Irving had too much work and there was no one to watch the boys. Whoops!

Wow, girl! You are amazing! I can barely get homeschooling and laundry done, and here you are taking on ANOTHER business venture! I do not know how you do it all!
Where will your new place be? Will you add on to your home or are you buying a new place to rent?

  17. gblued on February 1st, 2010 9:29 pm

Jessie, I have someone else doing the laundry, remember? ;) Totally helps that I’m not doing much housework! The new place is a rental which is near the school (like two meters away) and it is still not confirmed, so those plans are up in the air until we are sure we have the place. I’d love to buy a new place, but we don’t have that kind of money!
