Five Hours in a Row!

I am a bit of a bookaholic, for those of you who don´t know. I crave books. But down here it is difficult to find books in English that don´t cost an arm and a leg.
Well, yesterday, we were in the pacas (a second-hand area of the market) and on a children´s toy table, I saw a couple of novels. In English.
Now, most of the time when a vendor sees a white person interested in something, the price quadruples, so I nudged my husband and he went and asked how much the books were. The kid running the table said everything was 2 quetzales. Everything, books included! That is less than 25 cents to you Americans!
So, I grabbed the books, one was by Dean Koontz. And we discovered a heap more buried under toys, all over the table. For Q2, I wasn´t about to miss a single one, so I was there, stacking these books up and in the end, I bought 16 books! I think there was one left on the table. ![]()
The books are a variety. Some are novels for teens, others are for adults. There was one spelling book which I will use for the kids when they get to school age, plus about five school readers for various grade levels. My mom always used to buy these and we used them as story books, so I plan to do the same with the boys.
I read one book yesterday and am looking forward to savoring the rest of them throughout the following weeks. So, if you don´t hear from me for a while . . . I´m reading! ![]()
