From Bad to Worse

So, in the past 24 hours, things have just spiraled downhill. Quick recap of the past week.
- Car not working, mechanic is baffled by the bizarre electrical system and is looking for a diagram that will magically tell him how the wires should be connected from the 2009 engine to the 2007 computer. I’m thinking if he doesn’t know, he might not be the guy for the job.
- I gave my 2 week notice at a very difficult job and was promptly fired. That was actually a relief, but I was kind of counting on a little extra cash at the end of the month.
- My internets, both of them, have not been working for more than 2-5 minutes at a time. They have been getting worse since Jan., hence the reason I left my job which required constant access.
- It appears that some kind of virus destroyed my computer, which affected the internet, because it is now working for 10 minutes at a time on the desktop, but not on either laptop.
- I knocked my laptop over last night and it gave me the blue screen of death.
- Upon switching to the unwieldy desktop, I discovered that I don’t know the password to my main work account on Gmail and attempts to recover my password only convinced Google that I’m a hacker and they shut down the account. With all of my assignments in it.
- I had a new job and received an email last night (in my other account which is thankfully accessible) saying that the job has been put on pause by the main client until further notice.
- Last night, I went to take a shower and the showerhead began to spray a LOT of hot steam, then the pipe melted, it slowly bent down to the tub and glowed briefly before dying a painful death. And no, it was not an electrical failure, a piece of concrete was in the pipe and blocked the water (which I DID turn off, by the way, but that didn’t help).
- Irving’s motorcycle, confiscated 2 days ago, is still sitting at the police station because Irving has not only no proof that the bike is his, he also has no proof that he himself exists.
- I cried last night and woke up looking like Kermit the Frog and I have to go out in public today.
Can we just call it a year now and jump into 2011?

Talk to Me, People!

Oh Genesis, I’m sorry to hear that. WTF is it? An avalanche of shit-covered fans? Same here…. (laptop broke, fridge died, fender-bender, client-madness). So far 2010 sucks. There’s lot of room for improvement for both of us. Sending a hug! xx
PS: Scary shower-head. One of the widow-makers? Glad you’re okay though.
I am SOOOOO with you about skipping straight to 2011!
But it begs the question, who, in a past life, did we P off so badly, to come back at us this way?
And as Petra said, that shower head was scary indeed!
AWWW Genesis! I sure hope things start getting better.
You need to put a sort of colander (that they sell in ferreterías) in your contador de agua. Remember that sometimes, and especially when it rains wherever the water collection pond is, there´s lots of rocks and sand that get into the system. Once you have that set up, you need to clean it at least twice a year.
All I can do is sympathise and send lots of positive energy all the way over to you in Guatemala. Remember things happen for a reason, even if we don’t know what that is. Something good will come out of this, I’m sure.
Oh, I’m so sorry to hear about your crummy week. I’m sending you good vibes for better times soon. Hopefully this means that there is only one way to go from here . . . UP! I will have to tell you that little boy hugs work wonders for rotten days.
Actually, Dorian brought me a basket of “flowers of many colors” this morning which really helped.
Thanks for the support everyone.
So sorry that everything bad is ganging up on you all at once. That is NOT fair. Sending you lots of love and hugs and positive energy!!
just reading your blog and wish I was there to give ya a much needed hug! When it rains, it pours sometimes or so they say. I felt this way when my dad died on Valentines Day last year, and then my grandmother shortly before Easter… but we all get through these things eventually-even though I definitely wanted to skip right to 2010 because things were so bad back then. It’s still hard, a year later. I hope your mechanic can figure out the issue with your car to get you back on the road soon. And that Irving gets his moto back too… Gosh, that shower incident was scary though! Be careful and be sure to get that fixed. Thinking positive thoughts for you on the job front too, hoping you get some new assignments soon and that your internet and PC issues get resolved. Glad Dorian helped by bringing you a pretty basket of flowers…it is amazing how kids seem to sense when you’re down in the dumps and how a simple hug or kiss, or even a gift or a drawing made by them can make us smile.
Hopefully all the bad luck in 2010 has now happened! I too am sending hugs and good wishes.
OMG you have been through the wringer. I hope this was all resolved, I have been trying to play catch-up on your blog. I have been too busy to blog or read lately. Love all the pics, hate all the annoying internet problems you are having. Best wishes!
Lol, this is a while back! Most of these things aren’t exactly resolved, we’ve just figured out ways to survive with the new order.
