Great News! My Husband is Getting Fired!

Ok, I know that doesn´t sound great, but it really is! Remember how I said that Irving had taken two weeks off to see if I could really earn? Well, that wasn´t the only reason, he took this week off more because he has to work every day with the band, which is something he prefers over dealing with a roomful of 3rd graders. Next week is supposed to be my proof week.

He sent his sister, who is a recently graduated teacher, to work in his place. He had permission from the director and everything, so it was all fine. He was going to take two weeks off and then go back. Which annoyed me because he has been saying for months that he is going to quit and take care of the kids so I can work, since I make more than he does.

Anyway, apparently the Board of Education decided to make a surprise visit to the school this morning. Guess who is in another part of Guatemala, being a big music star? Right, so now they are sending investigators to talk to Irving in the morning. Gulp. He figures he´ll be sacked. :D And he isn´t the least bit upset. In fact, he told me, “Now we can get your laptop and you can go off and work in peace!”

I´m so looking forward to it. I hope he does get fired, because these things have a bad way of not coming through. He´s been so close to losing his job for the past few months anyway, because he just doesn´t like it anymore and with the band getting big, he just wants to work with the music and forget about the school.
