I Have a House

Posted on November 14, 2007 - Filed Under Personal, Simple Life |

We finally got the house closed in. The blacksmith came with the windows and door and does it ever make the place feel like a real house! We don´t have glass yet, so there is just plastic over the windows, but it works fine.

Yesterday and today, we moved furniture around, setting up the new kitchen and living room. It is still a bit disorganized, so I won´t be taking pictures until tomorrow. :D

So, now we have in our bedroom (which is ONLY a bedroom/office instead of an entire house!) the following: My computer, the bed, the wardrobe and Dante´s crib. And a little table. There is so much more room, though we only moved two things out, Irving´s computer and the entertainment center. Those are now in the living room half of the main room, along with our brand-new (but super-cheap) sofa and two armchairs. No table yet, but I do have my hutch back. It´s one that Irving´s mom gave us when we first moved to San Juan. Being outside wasn´t good for it, so Irving had it refinished. Now, here is a prime example of why some guys should not be allowed to decorate . . . . he was given the choice between white and brown paint. Guess which one he chose? Yup, the ugliest brown that I have ever seen. His logic was that white didn´t go with the floor. Ummmmm?

Anyway, I´m trying to ignore the zillions of imperfections and just enjoy having a proper house at last. I haven´t lived in a decent place in years and the last time I had a proper kitchen was when I lived with my parents still! So, I am thoroughly enjoying cooking with lights and a fridge and everything. We even got some new knives to I don´t have to saw soft fruit in half!

Last night was our first night in the new living room, with it closed in and the tv out there. We had some popcorn and sat down to watch the season premiere of Supernatural, my all-time favorite show . . . and discovered that the premiere was LAST WEEK! Rather than watching the second episode first, we ran to my computer and watched a downloaded version of the first episode. The problem is, the online versions don´t have subtitles, so I have to be translating the whole time, which can be a bit annoying. But we ended up watching three episodes, since, in the US the show started a while ago.

Anyway, that´s what is going on here. I´ll post some pictures tomorrow so you can all enjoy my new house, as well. :D

Just found your website. We are interested in some land in San Juan Obispo. Actually my parents were very interested (they have a home in San Pedro Yepocapa), but my mother wants to have a place to stay that is closer to Antigua and the city for when her kids (me and my siblings) come to visit and want to visit antigua. She has to opportunity to buy some land there (still unsure of exact location) but we are not too familiar with that area and she is currently home (US)with us but will be going back soon. Weather out here (midwest) is getting colder.
Let me know what you think of the neighborhoods there it sounds like it is a small town, which she is used to.
    Hope all is well there.
