It Feels Like Home

The rainy season is starting up again here in Guatemala. And this is the first wet season that we´ve had an enclosed house! Half a year ago, the main room was built, but without windows or door and only cold rough concrete outside. Before that, we actually had to go outside into the rain to get to the outdoor kitchen or even the other room!
Today, I was slicing potatoes for dinner and chopping onions. The heat from the cooking food warmed up the whole room. The rain on the roof is a soothing pitter patter . . . not too loud, right now. The cooking onion and potato smells fill the place and the kids are playing on the floor and Irving is asking me to translate English words for him as he attempts to install a new program on the computer. It feels like home! A real home, with a proper family inside . . . not just a jumble of people in a half finished house!
You know that cozy feeling you get from being inside and warm when the world outside is wet and chilly? That´s how I feel right now . . . something I seriously haven´t felt in years. And I know that tonight I will curl up on my sofa and watch Cold Case and Without a Trace and if it rains too hard to hear the words, it´s not a problem because we have Spanish subtitles.
And I´ll drink hot chocolate with Irving and enjoy being in our HOME.

Aww, I feel all warm and fuzzy for you.
I’m so happy that your house feels like a home to you now. You have such a precious family, and a post like this reminds me what I have to be thankful for.
How ironic, the ‘Anti-spam’ word was ‘HAPPY’!!!
It must feel wonderful to be in this situation… So warm, full tummies and the sounds of kids playing… Oh, and then it all comes back to the computer… grrrr How is it all going, you must have all of your’s back now or are you still using a borrowed one??
Cold Case & Without a Trace… These must come as a package as they screen them after each other here as well!!!
