I’ve Got Nothing

to say, that is. I’ve been trying to blog but have writer’s block in this area! You might say “Write about your life, that’s what you do, duh.” But there’s nothing to say!

The past few days have been a bit of a struggle. We’re just dealing with the aftermath of the cursed week and I’m attempting to make a go of things that will actually earn us some money. It’s odd, because I should be stressed out and worried . . . but I’m not! Instead, I’m relishing the fact that I don’t have anyone bugging me on a daily basis to do stuff, the fact that when the internets go out, I can just go take photos of my boys until they get sick of the camera in their faces, and not have to stress out because I need to get six hours in for a client each day. It’s nice. It’s relaxing, even.

Also, I think I’ve learned something over the past decade. I once worked with a man who told me, “Everyone should live on the beach for a year of their lives. It teaches you that you will survive, no matter what and something always comes along and you’ll be ok, even when you have nothing.” You know what? He was right. I don’t live on a beach and I certainly have a lot, but there have been times in the past 10 years when I relied entirely upon friends or local banana trees to feed me because I didn’t have even the 1 quetzal that it took to get into town to look for work (back before I was writing). And I survived.

We’re nowhere NEAR that kind of poverty but even with very little work, I’m not anxious because I know things will work out. I have things to do, I’ve got projects that I’m working on and I still have a couple of small clients and it’s all good! Thankfully, we live in Guatemala, in our own house, so costs really are minimal and we could make it on a fraction of what I usually earn. So, it’s all good. And I’m enjoying getting my own projects underway at long last.

Well, look at that, I guess I had something to say after all!

    Genesis?

What about doing parties for kids? Taking some pictures, making some food..and getting paid?

Not sure if it would work…but might be worth a go?

I could, but the pay would be pretty low. Irving and I actually discussed videotaping parties, birthday and communions, etc. At the moment, though, I can still make more with my writing, it’s just a question of building it up a bit. :) Thanks for the suggestion!
