Just What We Needed

Irving has been sick for the past couple of days with something nasty. We thought it might be a kidney infection, but it looks like it´s viral. Why do I say that? Well, last night, I failed to wake up when Dante cried. I didn´t hear Dorian. And I didn´t feel when Irving got up to deal with them.
Now, usually, it´s the other way around. Irving sleeps like a log and I wake up if Dante breathes funny. Not last night. And I even went to bed at 8 because I was exhausted. This morning, I was tired, too, so I lay down for a few minutes and woke up to Irving angrily throwing blankets on top of me. He was annoyed because he was up for 2 hours with Dante last night and I didn´t wake up until the end . . . and he´s sick as a dog. Apparently he tried to wake me up and I just moaned and rolled over. If he weren´t sick, it would be funny, a revenge of sorts, for all the nights he´s done the same thing to me!
Anyway, napping today was just too much and he got pretty upset with me. Now he is heading off to a gig, with a headache he´s had for days and I´m getting the same darn headache! It really doesn´t work for both parents to be down with the same nasty virus, especially when we both have to work (Irving has gigs tonight and tomorrow), but my worst fear is that the boys are going to catch it, too! That would just be a big disaster.
You know, I remember when I used to just call in sick when I felt like crud. Those were the days. Why don´t moms get sick days? Work at home moms really get the short end of the stick, because we still have deadlines to meet, kids to feed and keep alive, and there´s no laying down on the job! Blech.

Maybe you could still call in to the boss and just say that enough is enough and you will not be able to work today…
But the sad side is that I bet you will not be able to get through as the line will be busy… After all, you’re the boss right?
