Kansas is Coming to Guatemala

Anyone who knows me fairly well, online or off, knows that I have a penchant for older music. I love just about anything from the 50´s and 60´s, but my all-time favorite band is Kansas, from the 70’s. As in, I have pretty much all of their songs on my songlist and that is what I listen to while I’m working most days. My kids know “Carry On My Wayward Son” and Irving can sing “Dreamweaver” and “Dust in the Wind”. In short, I really, really, really like their music.
Then about a month back, I heard that Kansas was going to be doing a concert in Seattle and I was insanely jealous of anyone within a 100 mile radius and wishing desperately I was still up in Canada, because I would TOTALLY abandon my kids and cross international borders to listen to these guys live. But obviously, that wasn’t going to happen.
Yesterday, Irving was flipping through the paper and he made a statement that he now regrets deeply. “Hey, Kansas is playing in Guatemala September 24.” WHAT?!?!?!
I didn’t believe him at first, so I looked it up on their website and guess what? They’re doing an Americas tour and Guatemala is one of their stops. Commence hyperventilating.
On the concert website, I saw that there are quite a few great spots still available (Table 33 is MINE if you decide to get tickets, btw). In fact, only a few tables in the front and center were taken. Unfortunately, you can only buy online if you live in the capital. sigh. That means we need to plan a trip into the capital to buy the tickets . . . and that can’t happen until next week thanks to a snafu with transferring my money.
When I told Irving that I was worried we wouldn’t get good seats, he laughed at me. “Hon, the concert isn’t for a month . . . don’t you get guatemaltecos yet? No one is going to buy tickets until a day or two before.” I pointed out that people ALREADY bought the best tickets.
“Gringos.” he said, “You guys are the only ones crazy enough to buy tickets ahead of time, it’s probably a bunch of foreigners who are bonkers for Kansas like you. How much you want to bet we arrive and I’m the only dark skinned person there?”

Hahahha! What your husband said cracks me up! it’s so truee it’s such a cultural thing to leave things until the very last minute.. I am very guilty of that..
