Keeping Busy Around Here

It´s amazing how short the days become when you have to get ready for Christmas! We are celebrating Dorian´s birthday (which was on the 14th) tomorrow. What was originally going to be a small family outing to the zoo with Irving´s brother driving us (the only one in the family with a license) has turned into a huge thing!
First, Irving´s sister wanted to come. She wanted to bring her niece, so that bumped the count up to 7. Then his little brother decided he wanted to see the zoo, too. Up to 8. Then his father said he´d come as well and he wants to stop at a Christmas fair they are having in the capital on the way home . . . 9 and an extended day! Did I mention that I´m making food for this “little” excursion?
To make matters just a tad more complicated, Irving told me yesterday that we could go into town today to pick up Dorian´s gift and go shopping for food. The band leader changed the times on them last night, though. Instead of leaving at 5 pm today, he had to leave at noon! Which he forgot to tell me until half an hour before he left. Since we had planned on going into town in the afternoon, this kind of ruined our plans.
So, in the end, I have to get up super early in the morning, catch a chicken bus into Antigua to buy diapers, milk, chicken, and Dorian´s present, a big rig with cars in the back, then run home and cook said chicken in time to leave at about 9 am.
I made the Russian salad tonight and as I type this, there is a sheet cake cooling on the counter. It will hopefully be turned into a firetruck before dawn . . . or I may be making another cake.
Dorian´s apron is half finished, laid out on the couch and I have yet to pack the stuff for the boys tomorrow. After all that cooking and baking, I decided to take a minute to write my paid blogs for tomorrow so I just have to hit publish in the morning.
And that´s just for a birthday! In a week it´s Christmas! For some weird reason, I always underestimate the amount of time I have left, but Dante´s stocking is finished, Dorian´s just needs a backing, which I will most likely do tonight while waiting for the cake to finish cooling, and Dante´s Taggie blanket is mostly finished. It just needs to be stitched up where I turned it right side out. And somewhere in the midst of all this chaos, I will take some photos to put up at some point!
How are you all doing with Christmas plans?

Wow wee, looks like you were super busy and mega multitasking!
My man and I have dropped all our Christmas plans since it has become too complicated. We just decided we’re flying up to his brother’s place and that’s it. Previously I was frantic making handmade tree decor, and we were worried that he won’t come home early enough for us to select a tree.
We figure there will always be next year. Haha.
God help me when New Year comes!
And I’m curious to know how you guys celebrates New Year there.
My plans are very similar, minus the chicken bus. I spent the weekend making goodies for gift baskets, knitting, and crafting. (also went to a light display at the botanical gardens, hubby’s office Christmas party, and some last minute shopping for that party). Today is filled with vet and doctor visits, sewing and more goody baking! Whew! That makes me tired just to type it!!
Christmas Plans…???
New Zealand for two weeks brought us onto going to Bali for the UN Climate Change Conference. Louise was on one flight and I was on another as her flight was fully booked! Whilst in Bali, Louise celebrated her birthday, YAY! She left on the very early Sat 15th (00.15am) which meant I had to stay in Bali until my flight late Sunday evening getting me back into Sydney at 7.30am on the 17th, which just happens to be our wedding anniversary! Back at work today. Still no Christmas tree up, almost all of the Christmas present have been purchased (some in Bali where it is really cheap), work is so busy with Carols and the Concert series about to happen!!!
So it is rather busy here indeed…
