Let´s Hold Off on the Pets, Please

Irving came home from getting the tortillas today and he had a furry, bouncy puppy in his arms . . . a very, very cute one. Dorian was instantly enthralled and wanted to play with it, so Irving put the puppy on the floor and Zanelle (our niece) came running in. I assumed it was her new puppy, she´s been wanting one for ages.
Well, the puppy ran over to Dante who was sitting on the floor and sniffed his face . . . and Dante went nuts. He screamed his head off and hit the puppy. Irving scooped him up out of the way and we watched as the puppy and Dorian jumped around together. I think I get why boys are so interested in dogs . . . he was in love!
A few minutes later, the puppy had to leave. It turned out that it belonged to my future brother-in-law who was visiting Irving´s sister for a while. As soon as they took the puppy away, Dorian burst into tears. In a rush to calm him down, Irving grabbed Bear and said, “Here, you have your very own.” Dorian hugged bear and calmed down. All was back to normal . . . or so we thought.
Dante freaked out anytime anyone touched Bear for the rest of the afternoon! Irving and Dorian were tossing Bear around and Irving lay down on the floor on his back, throwing the teddy high in the air, which thrilled Dorian to no end, but apparently to Dante it looked like a puppy attack (same color, furry, etc.). He would just start screaming (which he´s extremely good at) every single time Bear landed on Irving. We finally had to put Bear to bed. :S
I think we aren´t quite ready for the chaos that pets would bring . . . much as they might be appreciated! Two little boys are plenty for me, thank you very much.

Oh my gosh, I thought you were going to say that he brought the puppy to stay! You are FAR too busy to add a puppy to the mix. I’m sad to say that right now I regret our decision to get a puppy. Especially the breed we got, as they are VERY energetic. I think he will be better when we take him to obedience school, so I’m not writing him off just yet.
It’s funny, Grant loves Copper and Grayson is a little afraid of him. Maybe there’s one of each in every family?
