Major Writing Assignment

The reason I vanished yesterday is because I got an email on Thursday night about a writing job I had applied to a couple of months ago. Apparently, they had come up short on articles and needed some immediately.
Now, this wasn´t just any old writing job. It is for a bunch of brand new glossies (that means real life magazines to non-writers) that are coming out in September. Real magazines. Not websites, but real, paper! 
So, I got this massive list of about 500 articles and decided that I could write five easy ones in a day. I selected five that appealed to me and sent the email, expecting the woman to reply the next day. She sent me back an email in five minutes saying that only two of the topics were available and told me that they were now assigned to me. I chose some more and ended up with four articles to write, all between 1,500 - 2,000 words. Supposedly. One ended up being much less, another on recipes and meal plans turned out to be just over 3,000. Unfortunately, they pay a set rate per article, so it didn´t matter that I went over.
The great thing about this is that I made the Friday night deadline (barely) and if they like my work, I will get to write on a regular basis for these magazines! I´m still waiting until I see my name on that glossy page, but if all goes well . . . I will be a writer in print. Which is just too cool.
Yesterday was Irving´s first day off of the school, thank goodness. He was here all morning and took both boys so I could really concentrate on writing. I think this is a very good sign that I had so much work on his first day of not working in the school!

Congrats!! I hope it works out for you, that would be great! You’ll have to spill the beans on which magazines so I can buy a copy.
