Make a Grown Man Cry

Dorian made Irving cry this morning. And it wasn´t a kick to the groin crying, either! (which is more common than you might think around here, due to changing diapers on the bed, which is at groin height)

Nope, this was a real, aw-I-just-can´t-leave-such-a-cute-kid cry.

See, Irving had to go to work this morning. Like most fathers on a Monday. But since everyone was up around here by 5 am, Dorian figured it was another weekend, so he was not impressed when he saw his papa getting dressed in his work clothes.

When Irving kissed us all and headed for the door, Dorian quickly followed. “Llevame, Papa!” (Take me with you, Papa). Irving told him he couldn´t, he had to work. Dorian had the solution. Shoes.

He ran as fast as his little, toddler legs could carry him, dove under the bed and came out with a shoe. “Zapato!” He said cheerfully and took it to his papa, who was standing in the door.

Irving shook his head, and told Dorian again that he couldn´t take him. Dorian threw himself against his papa´s leg and sobbed. “Llevame, llevame!” It didn´t matter what Irving told him, he was determined to go.

Finally, he changed tactics. If he couldn´t go to work, then maybe his papa shouldn´t either. So he started crying, “No, no go. No, no go, Papa!” (I told you he was bilingual!)

Irving told Dorian to go put a shirt on, since he was running around shirtless. Which Dorian took to mean that he was going to go with Papa after all. “OK!” He said enthusiastically and took off to find a shirt. Irving´s eyes welled up. I swear. He shook his head and told me that he was going to start crying. He already was, but whatever. I told him to just go.

So, he left. And Dorian stood forlornly in the doorway with a shoe in one hand and a shirt in the other. Geez, the poor kid made ME cry, too!

Ev, :D What can I say, I like to procrastinate on things I really ought to be doing. After all, it´s way more fun to read through old posts and create a meme post than write some boring articles on mobile offices!

Jessie, a quick update, Dorian survived. So did Irving. :D But now he leaves really fast in the morning so Dorian doesn´t know what hit him!
