Motos on the Ceiling and Other Imaginations

Posted on January 25, 2008 - Filed Under Kids |

Dorian has a very active imagination that is rapidly expanding. Often, at night, he will be playing and chattering away in his room for hours, playing with imaginary people and having a blast!

Last night, he called me in to his room and started babbling about motos (motorcycles) on his ceiling. This morning, I went in to get him up and he happily pointed out that the motos were still on his ceiling. And, before we could leave the room, we had to get on a helicopter behind his door and “fly” to the living room. :D

He is also becoming very creative with his methods of getting us to come into his room. For example, he has a giant stuffed bear on his bed named “Bear” (ok, so the creativity doesn´t make it to naming his animals!) and Bear frequently has “accidents” in the middle of the night. He falls out of bed or he sometimes can´t sleep. So it requires the intervention of Mama or Papa to get Bear to settle down and go to sleep. ;) Occasionally, Dorian´s clothes just jump out of the dresser and attack him in bed, so we have to rescue him. And there are all manner of other scenarios that he makes up.

While his getting up at night is somewhat problematic, I love that he is showing so much creativity at such a young age. I was exactly the same when I was little, always imagining amazing things and making up stories . . . which may have contributed to my becoming a writer. :) So, I´m very pleased to see Dorian using his imagination so much!

Those are hilarious! Do you think you may have a drama king on your hands? All that rescuing makes me wonder! :)
Grant’s big thing right now is monsters. I hear him chatting with them in his room all the time. Apparently they aren’t scary, though!
