Movicol Update

Anyone who is not up for dirty diaper stories should just walk away now. Or better yet,  jump to this post to find some cleaner stories.

Ok, so the other day, Dorian´s Movicol  arrived and he has been taking a packet a day in his water. He thinks he´s getting this great treat because it comes in a little foil packet and Dante doesn´t get any. So whenever he is complaining about Dante getting milk, I give him some Movicol in his bottle and he is satisfied.

Well, things have been going well. We´ve been seeing some not-so-constipated diapers and he has barely been pushing at all, which is wonderful. And when he does, he just grunts for a second and then goes back to playing. Before, he would strain, turn red, groan and whine and then cry because it hurt so bad. I felt so awful for him, so it is really nice to see him so content these days. Even his personality has changed, now that he is more comfortable, he is not having as many tantrums and is a lot calmer than before. Amazing what pain does to a person.

Anyway, this all leads up to a rather funny story. Today, Dorian was driving his car along the edge of the bed, as he is wont to do . . . pretty much all day long, and his Tia Diana came to drop off Dante. Dorian started his grunting but kept driving his car back and forth, usually he stops and focuses on pooing. So she asked him, “Dorian, are you playing or making popo?”

The little guy responded immediately, “Popo.” And pointed to his diaper. We were both amazed that he had understood AND responded. He has never shown much interest in talking about bodily functions before. Perhaps this is the first step towards potty training? :D

I miss diapering our munchkins. It gave me regular opportunities to share a quiet moment with them.

Loved this story, BTW. As a non-ex-pat-Canadian, I completely relate to your writing. Nice to e-meet you (found your link on Michele’s site).

    Looking forward to reading more!

There’s always someone glad of a cuddle. Those days are long gone for me and the youngest grand child is four but it’s as if it were only yesterday. Sad thing is when one could lie in every day, one no longer wants to. Sod’s law!

Drat!!!! My comment has been eaten.
to continue :- someone always wants a cuddle and although mine are now parents we have ten grand children. The sad thing is that when one could stay in bed all day one no longer wants to. Sod’s law.
