My Digital Camera is on Its Last Legs

I love digital cameras. I have to get a new one, though, because my poor Kodak EasyShare CX7300 has just been dropped one too many times on the cobblestones and concrete. That poor camera has withstood some very serious punishment. But it stuck with us through thick and thin and to tell you the truth, it´s still sort of working. Here are a few reasons I love my camera:
1. Having zillions of pictures of my boys is priceless. I never would have had them without a digital camera because there were times we couldn´t afford food let alone film for my old camera.
2. It´s really easy to use. I´m not that interested in fiddling with a bunch of buttons. I just want to point and shoot and get a good photo and digital cameras make that nice and easy.
3. You can erase the bad/embarrassing pics. I take a LOT of bad photos. I´m just not that good a photographer. But you would never know it to look at the pictures of my boys.
That´s cuz I use the delete button with a liberal hand.
4. All those flash options. I like to turn off the flash, but when I don´t then it´s cool to put on the red eye one. Sure you can take out the red eyes in any photo editor, but isn´t it easier to just get rid of it at the beginning? Besides, it´s just freaky to see Dante with glowing red peepers.
5. You can print online. I just got this cool gift certificate from my internet service for 10 free photos. You just go to the Kodak website and upload the pictures you want and then go pick them up, all professionally done! I´m sure I´ll want more than 10 photos, so they made a very good move!
6. Taking pictures of yourself with a film camera is just silly. You can´t tell if you got a good one when you set the timer and run in front of the camera. But with a digital one, you can see instantly if you need to retake the picture. That´s cool, because Irving NEVER takes photos, so all the ones of me pregnant I had to take myself.
Anyway, suffice to say, I really like my camera. But it´s useful life has ended. The battery door is broken and you have to strain your fingers to hold it shut so the camera works. The photos are sometimes blurry (although they did clear up for a while after yet another death-defying drop to the pavement during Semana Santa) and the memory card just ain´t what it used to be!
So, I´m looking at getting a new one with some of the money I earned from all those magazine articles. I deserve a reward and a good camera is something we can all really use. Here´s the one I´m thinking of getting:
Pretty spiffy, no? I want to upgrade to this one because it has 12x zoom, so I can take pictures of the boys from far away without them noticing. It also has 6.1 megapixels, which is supposed to give you even better quality so you can blow the pictures up for hanging on the wall.
With camera prices dropping rapidly, this EASYSHARE Z612 is basically the SAME price as we paid for my old camera! I want to stick with EasyShare, because my first camera has been so great.
What are your favorite features on your digital camera?

I love my 12X zoom.
I’ve just given your site a thumbs up at StumbleUpon. It’s a new discovery for them.
Have fun with your new camera. I sure do love mine.
Thanks, Jean!
You´re so nice to me. I have to wait till the end of September to cash my check, so my current camera will just have to hang on a little bit longer.
With a 12x zoom I’d make sure it’s got IS (image stabisation). I’ve got a 12x zoom and I love it
I know what you mean about digital cameras. I’m a big film fan, but the ability to delete the bad photos and (even better) to take so many photos without having to change the film/card… Brilliant!
Enjoy your new camera when you get it!
Hey Genesis,
I have just replaced our Canon C50 (pocket sized 5M) with a 10.2M Canon 400D DSLR and I love it!!
I got it with an additional zoom lens as well. I am also doing a photography course (of which I will be doing a Wordless Wednesday about tomorrow)! It is great being taught how to use it properly…
We are also about to have a Total Lunar Eclips tonight, so I will take some pics tonight as well…
Hope all is well with you!!
