Dante is growing up. His latest obsession is with the floor. He wants to be there all the time.
We used to put him in his bouncy seat, but he started to lean over so much that he´d tip out and just his butt would still be in the chair, held there by the safety straps, while he would be leaning on the floor. Then we put him in one of the armchairs, turned so the open end was blocked by the other armchair. But he can now pull himself upright on the arm and lean over enough to topple out. So, we´ve taken the plunge and (gasp!) let him hang out on the floor, a cardinal sin here in Guatemala. Don´t you know kids die if you let them sit on the cold tiles?

Why the big obsession with the floor? Apparently it´s the hip place to be. See, Dorian drives his cars on the floor (not to mention the walls, the bed, the furniture, his mother . . . ) and so now Dante thinks he needs to be on the floor in order to play with cars. The nice thing about him being down there is that Dorian and Dante play quite well together!

The only downside, besides Dante finding gross stuff like fingernail clippings on the floor when I haven´t had a chance to sweep for five minutes, is that Dante´s balance could be a bit better. Last night, for example, he pulled his shirt over his head by accident (I think he was trying to see the design) and pulled himself right over backwards! Most of the time, he catches himself and just lays his head on the ground, but you should hear that kid yell. And occasionally, like last night, he takes a good bonk to the skull and really cries. But in general, he enjoys his newfound freedom and has started scooting around on his bottom to get where he wants to go!

Girl you are in for it now. With both of those boys being mobile, you won’t have any trouble getting exercise!
All joking aside, you have some great looking boys on your hands!
That’s hilarious that he pulled his shirt over his head and fell over. I can just see it!
Oh, and I am lovin’ Dorian’s hair in that last picture.
Oh dear, wanting to see the design???? Didn’t he see it when it went on, such a boy thing to forget WHAT you are wearing…
As to the head bumps with the tiles, rugs by any chance??
And kids die from sitting on cold tiles. What from, piles?????? lol lol lol
Jessie, I´m rather glad we have a small house! And so far, Dante is moving pretty slowly. (Oh, and yes, it´s high time Dorian had another haircut!)
Bernie, apparently children are far more susceptible to dying than I knew. I´ve learned a lot since I had kids in Guatemala, like they also die from having a raindrop land on them and being out in the wind, even if for five seconds.
Here, I´m SUCH a terrible mom! As for rugs, we used to have one but it was during the rainy season and the rug got all this yucky black mold on it!
