My Little Ragamuffin is No More

Today was the day I have been dreading for months.
Dorian´s first haircut.
Here´s what he looked like before:
You can see why he needed a haircut. He was looking more than a little scruffy! But his hair is so thin and fine and he spent the first 9 months of his life without any, so I was a bit nervous.
Irving decided today to get his hair cut, so we went to the barber. We were sitting there, I was still debating whether to go for it or not and the other barber asked if he should do Dorian right away. It was a big moment of decision.
We said yes. Things started off on a bad foot with the barber lifting Dorian onto a special raised chair for kids. He doesn´t like ANYONE picking him up except me, so this was a major problem. Then he looked around and as the barber fastened the adult sized cloth around his neck, the poor kid started to panic. See, he has this thing about having his hands free. He panics if I don´t get his hands through his sleeves in less than two seconds.
Anyway. The next thing was the buzzing cutting thingy. Which freaked him out completely and he started to sob. I had a sucker on hand for just such an occasion, but he wasn´t even interested. He just looked at it and bawled. The barber was really good, he expertly flipped hair and zipped it off while Dorian was writhing in the seat, trying to get down. As soon as he switched to scissors, Dorian calmed down and sat quietly as the guy finished.
The worst part was the strop razor. I do not like it. They shouldn´t use it on children. But they do and the barber was an expert. He didn´t muck up at all, thank goodness. And we were done. I grabbed some of the fallen hair for the baby book and paid the guy 10Q and off we went.
Here is what Dorian looks like now:
Much better, right? Well, I am a bit sad because he looks like a little boy now, not my messy barely-a-baby Dorian anymore.
Oh well, I guess I still have Dante to be my baby.

Your right, a much more flattering!!!
He looks great! I got Grant’s cut yesterday, too. It wasn’t his first, but it was his first in a long time & he had grown all his curls back. He looks about three years old now
He is so cute!
Happy WW!
Thanks all, for the compliments. I guess I just have to get used to it, right?
Jessie, I know what you mean, they look so grown up when they are all neat and trimmed.
Looking forward to seeing some photos of Grant´s new ´do soon!
Love the picture and such a cutie. Lived in Antigua for a while in the hectic 80’s with all the goverment problems. Changed a lot since then as I still have friends there. Happy ww
That’s cute. My husband is in charge of our son’s haircuts. I still laugh when i think about the time i took Eddie to get a haircut and when his dad saw it he said, don’t do this again, let me handle haircuts from now on ok. It’s nice that that is his main job compared to my millions of responsibilities. Oh, i hope no one can detect a hint of bitterness in that…lol…
