No Potty Training in Sight

Posted on January 18, 2008 - Filed Under Kids |

Since we don´t have a bathroom, we´ve been holding off on potty training Dorian. It would be tough to get a toddler to the bathroom at my inlaws in time! But he has a pretty good idea what it´s all about, knows the words “pee” and “popo” and will tell us when he needs to be changed.

He´s been exhibiting some classic signs that it´s time to start training. He hides when he has to go, usually making us turn around or running behind a door. He asks to have his diaper changed and can tell us exactly what we´ll find. So, I´ve been thinking about getting one of those potty seats.

Yesterday, we were at the plastics store and saw a cute little bear chair with a slide out potty seat. I showed it to Dorian and told him it was for going to the bathroom. Then I asked, “Are you ready to start going to the bathroom like a big boy?”

He raised an eyebrow, pointed at the bear chair and said, “Not in that!”

So, I guess we´ll wait for a bit. Or find a chair that he likes!

:D The boy knows what he wants, doesn’t he?! That’s too funny. Grant won’t use a little potty either, he has to do everything like his big bubba. We aren’t really training him yet either. He doesn’t seem interested, and I’m not going to push it. As my pediatrician says, “In all my years, I’ve never seen anyone at high school graduation in diapers. He’ll do it when he’s ready.”
