Nothing Is Ever Simple

Dorian is as healthy as a horse 99% of time. But when he gets sick, it’s never something as simple as a cold, he always develops bronchitis or something extra. Take now for example.
He got a cough a week ago. Nothing serious, and the rest of us came down with it a few days later. Dante was very bad for a day, but then he felt better. Dorian, meanwhile, didn’t improve. Dante is down to a runny nose after 3 days of being sick. Then yesterday, he suddenly spiked a fever and ended up laying there whimpering. THe usual acetaminophen didn’t bring his temperature down, but Flamydol did. He felt much better and was up and playing until bedtime.
I checked his temp in the middle of the night and he was normal. This morning he bounced up and was running around, with a cough, but no fever. THen suddenly, at noon, he got very irritable, lay down and started to cry. I touched him, hot again. A quick check said his temp was 99.9° . . . within 15 min. it had soared to 103.4°. I gave him more Flamydol and we are heading out the door to see the doctor. Prayers would be appreciated . . . we’re hoping it’s nothing too serious this time around!
I’ll update you when we get back.
Updated: Well, we hit the doc’s in time. Dorian has the beginning stages of bronchitis, Dante has an upper respiratory infection, also just starting and as we thought we were done, the doctor told ME to get up on the table. “I know how moms are,” he said, “You’re coughing, too and if you don’t take care of yourself, you’re going to be sicker and sicker and reinfect your kids.” I have bronchitis, too.
The grand total for the consult for four people (Irving had one too) . . . Q150, or about $35. With medicine, it came to the grand total of $50, since my meds were free and the boys got theirs at a reduced price right there in the doctor’s office. Not bad!!

Sending you thoughts and prayers right now… keep us updated!
Prayers for you and your family. Remember you´re the one person who can´t afford to be sick, which is part of the definition of being a mom. so remember to take care of yourself. For some reason, we´re always taking everyone to the doctor and caring for them, but we only go to the doctor if we´re bleeding to death or coughing up bits of lung.
Thanks for the prayers, ladies, they are much appreciated!
Christine, you are so right, I never go to the doctor. Guess it’s a good thing he knows moms because otherwise I’d be getting even sicker.
glad to hear all is well
my poor little grandson suffered a fall from the bed earlier this week onto my hardwood floor (I was at work, hubby outside and his parents turned their backs for a split second and that is all it took…) we’ve been watching him closely, and he’s been admitted for overnight observation at the hospital as a precaution because he kept vomiting-the power puking kind-all day. Maybe a cat scan in the am, it’s been about 48 hrs since it happened so it could even be the swine flu or a virus. Lots of stuff is canceled here for Halloween because on Monday almost 300 kids in jr high and high school were out with flu like symptoms. But they still won’t shut it down for a few days… so because his parents go to the teen parent programs at the high school they are also being cautious about that-apparently there is another baby in observation with similar symptoms. Have a feeling it is gonna be a long weekend
but I have confidence that all will be fine since he seemed to be doing good at the hospital.
Praying and I truly believe God hears and will answer or request.

Sending prayers, loves and hugs. Pats on the back to your doctor, too – for making you take care of you! I have Brian home with bronchitus type issues and asthma symptoms. Not sure why we enrolled the kids in school this year as they have barely been there… ah well. Hope you all feel better SOON!
