Papa`s Dead

Posted on September 11, 2008 - Filed Under Kids |

This morning, we sat down to eat breakfast, Dorian, Dante and I. Irving was still in bed, as he usually is, since he often works late nights and doesn`t come home until the wee hours of the morning. Dorian just felt that the family breakfast wasn`t complete without his papa, so he went to wake him up.

A minute later, Dorian emerged from our room and told me, “Mama, Papa`s dead.”

“Is he snoring?” I asked, pretty certain that he wasn`t a goner just yet.

“Um, yup.”

“Well then, he`s not dead, just sleeping.” I reassured him.

“Ok. No breakfast for Papa?” He climbed back into his chair and finished eating.

In other news . . . Dorian wore his first pair of underwear this morning, red with an airplane on them. He got to choose which pair to use, he has four. He fell in love with the red ones instantly. I carefully explained that these were NOT a diaper and that if he peed in them, everything would get wet.

He went and showed off his new underwear to his papa and then went outside to play with Tasha. I informed him that he could either pee outside or in the potty, just to try not to pee in the underpants. I reminded him every couple of minutes, just to check and make sure he didn`t forget. Since it was his first time, I figured it wouldn`t be long before he had an accident (hence the playing outside!) and sure enough, about 15 min. later he called me frantically.

“MAMA! Look, I`m ALL WET!” He asked to wear another pair of underwear, but when I reminded him that they would be wet if he peed, he opted for a diaper. lol. He`s a boy of his comforts. I think we made some decent progress this morning though and we agreed that tomorrow morning, he can try the blue underwear with a car on them.

LOL! It is really strange how boys work with potty training. Grant wanted to do it, but just couldn’t get the concept. Then all of a sudden, bam! He got it. We’ve been undies only for almost a month (even at night), and he has had only 3 accidents. Grayson was harder though. He didn’t stop wetting the bed until he was six. :(
