Reasons I Am Grateful for My Children

Posted on November 7, 2007 - Filed Under Kids |

I´m grateful for my children because . . .

  • Waking up to milky kisses is the best way ever to wake up.
  • There´s nothing like holding a chubby, sleepy baby in your arms . . . the weight, the baby smell . . . mmmm!
  • For all the heartbreak and anxiety we have gone through with Dorian´s surgeries, I felt so good when he was all done and fixed up. It made me a stronger person.
  • Sometimes you just need to hear that belly laugh over something as simple as banging your head.
  • Someone always thinks I´m funny.
  • Someone always believes in me.
  • I´m not just any old person, I´m a MOM. The person my son runs to when he falls down, gets scared, wakes up sick or just feels unsure. That is really special.
  • Even grown-ups need hugs on a daily basis and kids seem to know that.
  • I am forced to eat healthy because of them.

I could go on and on, but I´ll let you off the hook. This post is being submitted to the November Group Writing Project on Mama Blogga.

What a great list! My favorite reason was the belly laugh. Just an hour ago, I had pulled out an old Economics textbook (not with the intent to read to my 21 month old, but DH told him it was story time). I read him “The Market for Used Cars” which began with a sentence like “Sometimes when you buy a used car, it turns out to be a lemon.” And then DH and I laughed like there was no tomorrow, and Hayden joined right in.

    Thanks for participating!

a great list! i love “someone always thinks i’m funny” — once i told my oldest that i had children so there would always be someone around who laughs at my jokes. i think he believed me!

So, this healthy eating business, how does that work? Just kidding! Glad to hear you and the kids are working on building great eating habits.

I´m glad you all enjoyed the list. I got so into it I had to do another for Thursday Thirteen. :D

Kate, I probably wouldn´t have healthy eating habits if it weren´t for Dorian being born with a birth defect of the anus, which meant intestinal surgery. If he doesn´t have a LOT of fruit and veggies, we have some major problems.

Wow what a heart warming list.
I love that all that you have had to go through with your son has made you stronger in yourself.

Kids are amazing for all they learn and do and how fast they learn and do new things but also because they think we are. Our children’s belief in us can get us far in a day when we’re not sure that we’re up to the challenge. Thanks for sharing this though and a reminder of milky kisses.
