Rechargable Batteries

I wish my body had rechargable batteries. Wouldn´t that be nice? Anyway, that has nothing to do with this post!
Yesterday, in my little major shopping spree, I bit the bullet and bought a new set of rechargable batteries. They were expensive, but we really needed them, since our old ones passed that 1,000 charges milestone a few months back and now only hold a charge long enough to take one blurry photo and yell, “Oh, wait, I have to get another one . . . nevermind, the batteries are dead.”
So, these new batteries are great. I took about 200 pictures last night. Well, that´s an exaggeration, actually, because our camera is also getting old and now refuses to hold more than 15 at a time. But I did fill the internal and card memory twice in just an hour! And all with the same two batteries.
I highly recommend rechargable batteries, especially if you have children. Here are a few of my reasons:
- Kids´ toys always use 2-4 batteries and they have lights, sounds, and movement which wear said batteries down in minutes. You could spend a small fortune just keeping that flashing piano going until your kid is too old to play with it!
- Obviously, cameras. It really sucks when you go to take a photo and don´t have batteries, this way you always do . . . even if they aren´t charged!
- It´s one less thing to forget to buy when you go shopping with a couple of screaming children who distract you to no end so you forget half the stuff on your list.
- They are a lifesaver for those moments when your toddler opens his new toy car and discovers that it needs batteries and Gramma didn´t include any in the package!
- They are way better for the environment. Imagine how much space 1,000 batteries take up (supposedly the number each rechargable replaces) in a landfill?
Anyone else have good reasons for rechargables?
