Snacking on Reasons

We had a bit of a misunderstanding here a minute ago. I was making coffee and Dorian started fussing and was all upset that I was in the kitchen. He couldn´t join me because he didn´t have shoes on, and he thought I was leaving.
When I brought the coffee back in, I said, “See, there was a reason I was in the kitchen!”
He thought I said “raisin”. So began the epic discussion of whether or not there were raisins in the house (there weren´t) and why I had mentioned raisins if I wasn´t going to give him any! Since he´s not even two yet, the discussion went something like this:
Dorian: “Raisin?”
Me: “No, I said ´reason´. Do you want a cracker?”
Dorian: “No. Raisin.”
Me: “We don´t have raisins. I was talking about something else. Cracker?”
Dorian: “RAISIN!” Pointing emphatically at the top of the tv cupboard where we usually keep the raisins. (don´t ask)
Me: “Honey. No raisins. Crackers.”
Dorian: (crying now) “Si! Raisin. Raisin. Ahi (up there)!”
Then he distracted himself by spilling coffee all over the floor and sliding in it and falling on his butt. So that was the end of the raisin discussion. I never realized how much “reason” sounds like a snack!
