Our regular daily routine starts around 5:30 or 6, when one or both of the boys get up. I get up with them and Irving sleeps until 8 or 9, usually. On days when he has been out on a gig all night, that doesn´t bother me, but he has fallen into the habit of doing it every day. Which would be fine if I wasn´t working. It really bugs me that I get up early, watch the kids, and as soon as he´s up, I´m working or looking after kids. At night, I finish up the work I couldn´t do during the day and then go to bed. No real free time and I can´t stay up late because I know I´ll be up super early in the morning.

This is something that has been really irritating me for a while and it´s made me a bit snippy, especially when Irving stays up late to watch a show I want to see (no TiVo down here) or just plays games on the computer. I´d love to have that freedom!

Anyway, we talked about it and decided that Irving would take at least one morning to let me sleep. Since I was up and down all night with Dante, who hasn´t been sleeping well (ironically, Dorian has slept through the night twice in row!), it was a nice feeling to just let Irving deal with the boys in the morning and I fell back asleep until 8. ahhhhh!

Course, when I got up, I felt a bit guilty because he´d totally cleaned the house top to bottom. I usually either crash on the couch to watch Thomas or try and get some preliminary work done. I virtually never clean the house early in the morning, it´s something that gets done in bits and pieces throughout the day. So getting up and seeing everything sparkly made me feel like I do a lousy job. But it still was nice. And, he actually forgot to give the kids breakfast, so they were super happy to see me, which was also nice! Even if it was only because I feed them. :)

Don’t you dare feel guilty on the one morning you get to sleep in! You work very hard, and so what if cleaning isn’t your top priority? When he lets you sleep, you better just enjoy it. I always let Jeff sleep in on Saturday and I sleep in on Sunday, which is great except that we REALLY should start going to church again, and that will leave me without a day to rest. :(
