That Whole Work/Life Balance Thingie

Things are just crazy here. So this is a bit of a jumping all over post. :)

The House

We`re in the middle of rearranging the house and planning to put the boys in the same room shortly. It`s a bit of a mess. It means I will spend the weekend painting their room and then probably a month trying to get them to fall asleep when there is a playmate in the same room!

I`m a bit nervous about it, but to tell you the truth . . . VERY ready to have our own room again. We`ve only had a couple of months where I was pregnant with Dante and Dorian was in his own room that we were alone. In the past 2.5 years. It`s a long time to have to creep around your room so you don`t wake the baby and both our boys are really light sleepers.

As usual, the dishes are piling up in moments. I am trying so hard to stay on top of things, but it just seems that as soon as I wash dishes or mop the floor, someone has more food, finds a dish under the couch or spills beans on the floor! It`s a constant battle. I`m thinking having a kitchen table would help. We were going to get a wooden one, but it`s expensive and I know the kids would just draw on it and bang it up, so we`ve decided on one of those plastic patio ones for now. Just to have somewhere central to eat that doesn`t involve spilling food on the sofa.

Food

A week ago, I started this Green Smoothie Challenge. So, every day, I`ve been drinking a green smoothie for breakfast and eating lots of fruits and veggies throughout the day, with another green smoothie at night. The idea was to go completely raw for 3-7 days, but I found that I just felt too weak, so I added a regular meal back in. I was feeling GREAT!

Then I had sugar again. I`m a bit of a sugar addict and I quit Pepsi and coffee cold turkey too for this challenge.

First the benefits: I was actually AWAKE in the mornings. I didn`t need a nap in the afternoon and could still stay up until later in the evening. I didn`t have tons of energy, but certainly a good deal more than normal!

After having some chocolate and later, a glass of Pepsi: It was a mess. It didn`t hit me that same day, but the next morning, I dragged out of bed. I had to have a nap midday and was exhausted throughout the day. And that`s how I`ve spent the past two days! NOT good. I can see that sugar is going to have to be almost entirely cut out of my diet.

Work

I really don`t want to complain about work. It`s going amazingly well. Orders for articles are pouring in and the only problem is that I really don`t have enough time for it all.

While it`s always good to have plenty of work, it can really throw a scud into things . . . especially when it comes to cleaning house and painting bedrooms. :) So it`s just getting hectic (and messy) around here as I run around like a chicken with its head cut off, trying to play with the kids, squeeze in a bit of quality time with Irving, keep the dishes done, family fed, laundry semi-sorted, and still manage to whip out these articles, some of which are not easy at all!

On top of that, I have about half a dozen projects on the back burner that I really do need to get to. My sister hasn`t had internet, so The Gourmet Mama blog is suffering from my lack of time and my other business site, PLR Articles is a mess in the middle of renovation, too!

And then there is Sleep. Never in sufficient amounts. `Nuff said!

How`s your week going?

While on vacation, I had to spend a few nights sitting with the kids when they had to sleep together - it was actually nice to have the quiet time(!) - to show them I was serious about bedtime. Just sitting with them until the excitement wore off. Good luck, it sounds like you will be busy! oh, I agree - don’t invest in a nice table you will love and be sorry to see used. Buy a cheapo ‘kid’ table - and a tablecloth to hide it :-)
