The Floor Thus Far

Posted on November 4, 2007 - Filed Under Mom Stuff, Personal, Simple Life |

Ok, I really did try to get some good photos . . . but this camera just doesn´t work very well anymore. However, I have a few for you, I´ve arranged them chronologically, so you can see the progression from dirt to tile. :D

This was my first kitchen floor, concrete blocks. I built the kitchen myself, though you can´t see the background here, there was a stove and a fridge, a hutch for dishes and my pila. The roof was corrugated tin, held up with pilars I built of more concrete blocks. We had to dismantle it to build the real kitchen walls.

Here is what happened once we built the walls. All my kitchen stuff was shoved into a corner, with a sloping dirt floor and the tin roof poorly fitted overhead. I didn´t do much cooking at this point.

The future kitchen site, as you can see . . . dirt floors were in that season.

Finally, we got the builder to lay the concrete . . .

And now . . . they are laying tile!

As you can see, we still have a ways to go. I´m eager to finish this process up and get on with the bathroom! Here´s what my current kitchen situation is . . .

It´s far from ideal, but I´m just thinking ahead to when my kitchen will be gorgeous. :D Here´s the kitchen in my head . . .

It is so fun to see the progression. I love tiled kitchens. I think that the last kitchen picture is what we all have in our head.

WOW, that is some progress… How long has it taken so far?

Well, we finally got ONE SET of our french door style sceens on, so at least for now, we can have the doors open and have a lovely breeze come through with no flys or MOZZIES (mosquitos)!!!

Looking good, you must be so happy. I will (tonight) take a shot our our kitchen, not to show off or anything, but just to show what we have and one feature that I love!!!!
