The Great Big Cleanup

We`ve been cleaning the house regularly, but sometimes you just have to do a deep clean. Today is that day.
I`ve been getting increasingly frustrated when I wake up in the morning and see all the clutter that just has no home. And then we got our laundry back the other day and it didn`t get put away because there just isn`t enough room in the drawer . . . it just got to be too much.
So, this morning, ignoring articles, deadlines and other sundries, we grabbed garbage bags and set to work. In just an hour, we had two entire garbage bags FULL of junk! It`s insane! Especially since I arrived here six years ago with just what I could carry on my back.
Here are a few of the things we`ve tossed this morning:
- An extension cord that didn`t work
- Three phone chargers for phones we don`t even have anymore
- A TON of papers that were scribbled on, printed with test patterns or just crumpled and blank
- About 150 movie cases for DVDs, the discs were put into disc carriers
- Manuals for a ton of assorted machines we no longer own
- About 2 dozen pens and markers that no longer write
- Glue that is all dried up
- A bunch of worn out socks that were hanging around in the toybox
- Several books that have been ripped beyond repair by Dante the Destroyer
- Entirely too many bags with one spoonful of rice or oatmeal in them
I also discovered that I have 4 bottles of soy sauce when I thought I was totally out, two bottles of cinnamon, an entire bag of felt that went missing during Irving`s last cleaning (he stuck it in with the baking dishes) and I realized that my children actually have no real toys! Sure they`ve got a couple of puzzles and a million toy cars, but that`s pretty much it. They aren`t too gentle on toys and we`ve lost some along the way. I`m thinking it`s time to invest in some blocks and such.
I would post before pictures, but I don`t want to scare anyone, so I`m waiting until I can do the after ones as well!

Congrats! I loooove getting rid of clutter! I love my stuff, but I love the ‘after’ effect of a good cleaning too.
I am in process of getting our house back in order after a month gone, and going back to a school schedule - yipes!
Ha! Dante the Destroyer!! That is awesome. I am going to get into our playroom with garbage bags this morning while Grant takes his nap. Isn’t it amazing how much clutter we get so quickly?! Yay for you getting it taken care of.
We did a bit of that before painting… But, alas, the FIL sees a hole and then finds something that we “might” use… Oh well, it was tidy for a little bit! I hope you have better luck!!!
