The Littlest Bub Can Talk

Dante has said a few words, or at least, what seemed like words, since he was pretty small, but until now, he hasn´t really used a any of them with a purpose, except “hungee” (hungry).
In the past couple of days, both boys have had a bit of a vocabulary explosion, which is just so much fun to watch! Obviously, Dorian goes at a faster rate, since he already has the hang of talking, but Dante has started to say “Papa” when he sees his papa come into the room and “Up” when he wants to be picked up. He even combines the two, “Papa, up.”
I´m thrilled. It´s so much easier to deal with children once they can tell you what the problem is!

I actually thought about trying sign language, since this is supposed to be a good age to start. We tried it with Dorian, but from very small, he preferred to talk, though he did use a couple of signs for a while. I definitely think he will be my chatterbox, though. Dante seems to prefer to just sit back and watch the world go by, whereas Dorian not only wants to participate in everything, he wants to keep a running narrative going! Irving says he´s just like me. ![]()

Yay! Babies are so cute when they start to talk. I love that picture of him, too. His eyes are just gorgeous.
I think birth order has something to do with who’s the motormouth. Grayson is mine, and Grant just tries to get a word in sometimes!
He does look so cute… But why do they all say dad (papa) first? Must be easier than mum (mom) maybe??
Also, as a No. 2 child… Why speak when you have an older sibling to do it for you???!!!
Jessie, I think you´re right . . . I´m a firstborn and a talker, too.
Bernie, I´ve heard that phonetically it´s easier for a baby to say Papa or Dada. But, I think it has more to do with the fact that the mother is usually the main person talking to the baby. And she says, “papa” a lot, rather than talk about herself in the third person. Dorian actually said “Mama” first.
