The Meltdown

I have a problem. A really big problem. And it was all because I woke up at 2:30 am this morning, after countless days of getting up at 4 am.

I accidentally erased my At Home Mom blog. It´s awful and it´s embarrassing, but that is what happened. I thought I was deleting Wordpress off another domain and in my bleary-eyed, sleep-deprived state, didn´t notice the little note that said something like “you are about to delete Wordpress from your athomemomblog.com directory”.

So, now it is gone. I have backups, of course, but they are about 3 weeks old. To tell you the truth, when I realized what I had done, I sat down and cried. All that work, gone. But like most things, it wasn´t as bad as I thought.

I contacted my host, HostGator, and they told me that for a $15 fee, they will restore my files. I have no idea how much I have lost yet, it takes up to 24 hours to have the files restored, but I hope it isn´t too much.

I had subscribed to my own blog through Google Reader, so I could keep track of how things look on a feed reader, so I have most of my articles up there, but all the comments, etc. are lost!

So, let this be a lesson to me and other sleepless blogging mommies out there . . . don´t delete blogs unless you are well-rested or have someone who is beside you. Oh, and do backups more often than every three weeks!
