Thirteen Things I´ve Learned Online This Week

Posted on January 10, 2008 - Filed Under 13 Things |

I spent WAY too much time surfing the internet this week instead of really working, but I did learn some rather interesting things.

1. Did you know you can make bread without baking it? I had no idea until I read this blog on the raw food diet.

2. Modular homes aren´t just cookie cutter houses anymore. If I´d known about this website earlier, I might have just looked for a modular home option here instead of doing all this annoying building!

3. I learned how to make a live trap, when looking for solutions to the neighbor´s dogs getting into our garbage and pooping in our yard.

4. Ever wanted to make a monster? Here´s the cutest little guy I´ve ever seen, made of felt. This is a picture tutorial on Flickr.

5. Here´s an interesting little instructable on how to make your own cookie cutters. Since they are pretty much impossible to find down here, I think I´ll be using this one.

6. I learned what I want my office set up to be like.

7. On a sad note, I found out that some of my favorite shows won´t be running much longer with this television series blackout countdown list. I know this is old news to you Americans, but we get our TV shows late here in Guatemala, so we are just starting the season for many shows.

8. A very handy site, if you are plagued by alien abductions, is this one. It has instructions on how to build a thought screen helmet to prevent alien mind control.

9. I also discovered a list of places to watch tv online, something I´m always eager to do, since we get our shows so late. I had a few websites that I watched before, but they´ve all vanished now. I´m suspecting copyright laws.

10. Do you know how to make tofu? I do now, after reading this article. Not sure where to get calcium sulphate down here, though!

11. We still don´t have a kitchen table, but I found these simple instructions on how to make your own with just a bit of wood and some metal brackets. It looks easy, but it´s probably more difficult than it seems, right? Still, I´m pretty sure this table would be a far sight cheaper than the one I saw at Cemaco!

12. I learned that an orphanage near Antigua needs baby Tylenol and shoes, as well as spoons.

13. And finally, if you´ve ever wanted to make your very own incense . . . I´ve found a tutorial on just that. :D

yup, modular homes can be customized to just about match any look of stick built homes. if anyone is thinking about a modular home just make sure they use an experienced builder and stay involved in the process. modular homes have unique issues that if not handled correctly will create a nightmare for the home owner.

Making our own table sounds really cool. Maybe I’ll try it too!

I´m getting tired of waiting on my table. the new sofa is already stained with food. :( So, this seems like a perfect solution.

and, are you laughing at my new thought blocking helmet? How dare you! :D

    Hi Genesis;

    Wow, you have been busy.

I wanted to say thanks for all the info you sent me…the flu really knocked me for a loop and I kinda got side tracked…

    thanks…you are such a help!

Hey, when Grayson was smaller we used to keep a blanket draped over the couch at all times. It kept the food stains to a minimum. Now we have leather, so it doesn’t really matter that much.

I like the cookie cutters, and the new office set up, but a ‘Thought Screen Helmet’ please!!! How on earth did you find that?? lol lol lol
