This Week in Our Lives

Posted on April 18, 2009 - Filed Under Food, Fun, Kids | 1 Comment

I haven`t blogged that much this week because of assorted things going on, so I`m going to do a quick weekend post to catch everyone up. Because I know you`re just SO fascinated with our lives. :P

  • Irving`s had a lot of work lately. He was gone last week for four and a half days, which is a lifetime to two little boys who are used to having their papa around all day. On Tuesday, he had a gig early in the day and Dorian totally freaked out, thinking that Irving was leaving for a long time again. He`s off again today and was gone on Thursday as well . . . it`s been a pretty lonely week!
  • On Monday, we went out to celebrate my birthday and ended up getting food poisoning. Oh, and have I mentioned that our bathroom is STILL NOT FINISHED?! While we were out, we took some late night pics of Antigua and apparently captured some ghosts in front of this ruin of a church. . . if you believe in that sort of thing.

  • Thursday, the boys and I headed over to see Mark and his family. I was hoping that the boys would be less shy than last time (when they pretty much huddled together and ignored everyone else!) and they were . . . . it was a blissful couple of hours where I got to talk to adults while the boys took off and played and were happy and having a blast. Oh, AND . . . Mark`s wife made me an awesome chocolate birthday cake, which I thought was really nice!
  • And then yesterday, these arrived in the mail . . .

seeds

My seeds for my rooftop garden!! There are cherry tomatoes, basil, chives, oregano, cauliflower, carrots and peas. Can`t WAIT to start eating these yummy goodies!

  • Over the past month or so, I`ve managed to lose some weight by tracking food and drink on SparkPeople and keeping the calorie count down. It`s not a lot considering how much I have to lose, BUT . . . . this morning my pajama pants were falling down, so I consider that to be a success, considering they were skin tight before!
  • I got to review a new browser for kids and let me tell you, it rocks! Dorian loved it. We`re still working on his mouse skills, but he`s got the concept down. This browser, KIDOZ, is really easy to use and kids don`t need to read to use it. Plus, Thomas is the first site on the first page, so that made it a hit right there with Dorian. ;) Oh, and, you can block or add sites yourself, which makes it nice and safe for kids to use for surfing the internet. They can pick from three categories, websites, games or videos . . . we stuck to websites, but they have games and videos anyway, so that was cool.

  • And we had a few of these moments . . .

But overall, we had fun. How was your week?
