Two Years Ago This Day
Posted on December 14, 2007 - Filed Under Kids |
Two years ago today, at 5:25 am, I met a very special person. He was tiny and pink and not happy to be out of my womb! That special little someone was Dorian Gabriel Hernandez Davies and today he turns two.
The past couple of years have been fraught with terrifying moments, the horrible fears of a new parent, anxious visits to the doctor, heartbreaking tears, long waits during surgeries and plenty of sleepless nights and tantrums.
They have also been filled with tears of happiness, the sweetest kisses known to man, baby giggles that turned into belly laughs, gummy smiles that became toothy grins and infant cooing that gave way to accented, mangled Spanglish sentences.
Two years that we never expected to have after three miscarriages. 24 months that were never anticipated when I discovered I was pregnant for the fourth time. 104 weeks that I never dreamed were possible when the doctor told me the baby wasn´t growing well and I started bleeding early in the pregnancy. 730 days that seemed unreachable when they told me that I had pre-eclampsia. 2 wonderful, treasured years that have made my life worth living.
Happy birthday, Dorian!

“He was tiny and pink and not happy to be out of my womb!”
That was funny, hahaha!
Happy Birthday to the little Big Guy!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY DORIAN!
He’s such a special little guy. Even more so because you went through so much to get him here. I hope you have a very special day together.
Happy (belated) birthday Dorian!!!
I love the way that you have said the time over years, months, days… really lovely. We are waiting for another cycle to start the whole IVF thing again now that we are back from Bali!
