Hey Girl, I know where to get it. There’s a big shopping mall in Mixco where the Hiper Paiz is. I think the name of the store is “Puntitos” or “Puntos” I’m not quite sure but they do carry lots of needlework stuff, crocheting, knitting, sewing and yes, balls and balls of glorious yarn! Check it out.

Try a kiosk on the 3rd floor of La Pradera Mall (Zone 10) in Guate. They have very nice yarn. If you have any left over yarn, you can take it back to them and a group of volunteers knits caps for children with cancer who’ve lost their hair due to chemotherapy.
Maybe also El Mundo de las Manualidades in Gourmet Center Zone 10 (Blvd Los Proceres), though Im not really sure about this last one.

It would be horribly expensive to ship enough yarn for an afghan, Bernie, though I really appreciate the offer! I’d need 17+ balls so it’s not a small amount. I’m going to see if I can find someone like Norm suggested, who weaves.

Maybe ask one of the ladies who work the back-strap looms around town. They buy or make their own thread but should be able to direct you to some good yarn.
