We Love Packages!

On Saturday, a package from my parents and littlest sister arrived. Mail is a big event here since it`s a pretty rare thing. For the most part you don`t get junk mail, catalogs don`t exist here and no one sends letters by mail anymore. While big packages (bigger than a large shoebox) get stuck in the capital and require a fee to get out, plus any customs tax (which is based purely on how desperate you`ll be to get your package and whether or not it contains things that could be resold here), smaller packages make it right to our doorstep. Or they do now. For a while, the mail carriers just didn`t come up here because it`s such a pain to hike up and down the steep streets. We went in every day to bug them about ebay packages coming in and finally they decided it was less hassle to bring them to our house than to sort through all the packages at the post office on a daily basis.

Anyway. I digress. :) Too much NCIS . . .

The package was great! It contained a huge bag of Twizzlers for me, which is my absolute favorite candy, followed closely by Smarties, should anyone care to take note of that, and a bag of assorted mini chocolate bars, which the boys scarfed down pretty fast. I know, I know, I should ration them, but we`re not very good at rationing around here. As in, when I bake cookies, I only bake a half batch because they WILL be eaten within a few hours. Hard to make my kids have willpower when mine is non-existent in the face of chocolate and Twizzlers.

Also in the package were two little wooden rolling pins for the boys, which they tried out on homemade playdough after lunch, a giant container of fun shaped sprinkles (how did my mom know?!? I`d just asked a friend coming back from the US to bring me some!), and a couple of hats that my mom made herself. They are really cute and Dorian was so enamoured of his that he put it on and insisted on going out to the shops to tell everyone that his “Gamma” made his hat!

The following day, I tried to get some photos of the boys in their new hats for my mom. It was a long photo shoot, the boys were total hams. Here are a few of the shots:

I’d never be able to say ‘no chocolate’ to my kids. Ok, maybe “no chocolates cos it’s all MINE!” *snatch*

Those hats! They are so cute. I still can’t believe they’re handmade. :o

What cuties! Good to know what size packages to tell our family is most likely to make it hassle-free. :)

Thank you so much for all of the input! I’m still processing a lot, but I’m sure I’ll have more questions later. :)

Great photos! The hats are adorable, like the boys wearing them :)
