When Mama Doesn`t Listen

It`s been a rough week, with all the articles due, kids being sick and then I came down with the same bug yesterday.
How annoying. Anyway. Yesterday, I really wasn`t in the mood for whining and that was ALL I was getting from Dorian. He wouldn`t talk properly all day. It was a non-verbal, irritate Mama as much as possible, don`t use your words kind of day.
So, by mid-afternoon, I was just trying to tune the whining out. I was busy washing dishes and he started to fuss and whimper and mumble unintelligible stuff in the living room. I asked him to please talk. Nothing. “What do you want?”
“mmmphh, uuhhhhhh!” Right. I know just how to give that to you.
I continued washing dishes, trying to ignore simultaneous nausea and the incessant whine in the background. Dante hit Dorian, Dorian screamed at him. I yelled for Dante to leave his brother alone. I washed more dishes.
Then I realized . . . Dorian hadn`t moved in at least 30 minutes. He`s not a hyperactive kid, but he does move around a lot. So I asked if he was stuck. No definitive answer, but this is what I could see from the sink:

So, I walked over and this is what met my eyes.

Now, to really get the enormity of this for Dorian, you have to realize that this kid absolutely HATES being naked. He becomes paralyzed without clothing, to the point where he can`t even walk to the bathtub most of the time after I take his clothes off. I think it has to do with all the surgeries, dilations and enemas . . . all of which happened while he was naked. He can`t even deal with having his shirt off. He gets freaked out by the fact that Dante runs around in a diaper to the point where he will bring me clothes and ask me to dress his brother.
If this were Dante, he would have stepped out of the diaper and pants and run gleefully around the room before peeing out the door. But Dorian was totally traumatized by the event and stood there, waiting for me to come and rescue him. I really felt bad (though Irving pointed out that obviously I didn`t feel bad enough if I stopped to take pictures!) that I`d ignored him. However, if he`d told me that his pants fell down, I would have been there in a second.
Anyway. This is what happens when you ignore your kids!

Oh! Poor sweetie! Well, maybe he was freaked out this time, but sometimes it takes something like this to make a kid think… give him some time and he’ll think about what happened and next time, he might call you more clearly, or try to pull up his own pants. awww!
OMG… This is so funny! Not the fact that you were unwell, (are you better now?); OR the fact that he is standing there with his pants down, but the fact that, as Irving said, you left him there to suffer while you got the camera to photograph the event!!!
The look of shear horror on his face; is it from his pants down or the fact that you have a camera in your hands, AND his pants are down??
Poor lil fella…
Once a blogger always a blogger.
Poor lil guy. I’m sure you gave him much love to help him get over it.
Bernie, it was the horror of the pants. He wasn`t impressed that I took longer to rescue him, but he was just totally freaked out by the whole naked butt thing.
And, of course, I did give him a big hug and love him up a lot. Which he thought was disgusting, being all of two years old.
