Where’s My Blue Shirt?

This post
could easily be titled “Husband Rant Number One”. I say one because there are
most certainly more to come. The great thing is that my guy doesn’t speak much
English, so I don’t have to worry about him reading what I write about him, as
many blogging wives do!
My husband
had to go to work with his band this weekend. They have several different
uniforms that they use, and since he is gone both today and tomorrow, he needed
to take several changes of clothing for the various gigs.
The logical
thing to do would be to tell me ahead of time what clothes he needs. The
reality is that
is not a very logical person. So, this morning, about an hour before he had to
leave, he started to pack and suddenly started to ask for all kinds of clothes!
“My blue
shirt isn’t here!” He started to panic. “I need my blue shirt!” The shirt was,
unfortunately, in my son’s bedroom. Where my son was taking a nap. So it was a
toss up, wake up the boy and have him fuss and cry all day because he was
tired, or forget the blue shirt and have him be the only band member in a black
one. We opted for the black shirt.
This is a
common problem and one that I have tried to address many times. However, with
two small boys and a husband who dirties more laundry than both his kids put
together (how he manages it, I will never know), it just isn’t possible for me
to get all the laundry caught up all the time. Ok, the truth is, it is NEVER
caught up, but that is beside the point. I’m busy, I can’t do everything, even
if I want to and I need some notice if I’m to have things like shirts ready to
go at a specific time!
Oh, and did
I mention that all our laundry must be washed by hand? That’s right, no washers
or dryer around here! Which means it is even easier to fall behind on the
laundry. I’ll just have to keep trying to get him to tell me what the uniform
is the day before he leaves. Someday it ought to stick!
